Heat and Combined Heat and Power
Heat can be produced directly from many sources. In some cases heat can also be captured from steam or gases used to power an electricity generation turbine. This approach is called Combined Heat Power or CHP.
All renewable heat technologies are suited to localized generation where most of the power can be used where it is produced. Some can also produce heat at large scale, using a heat network to distribute the output to factories, hospitals, housing developments and even entire towns.
